Drink Me was an interactive installational text work consisting of 258 sandblasted glasses featuring the words from the ‘drink me’ passage in Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland by Carroll Lewis. Each glass was to be filled with 30ml of Scotch whiskey to be drunk by the viewers/participants recalling Dadaist traditions of poetry and performance. However, two days prior to the opening the artist was forced to cancel the interactive aspect of the piece faced with unspecified consequences due to the illegality of all alcohol consumption at the university where the exhibition was to be held. As such, this piece remained unrealized and became a statement against the puritanical American attitude towards alcohol consumption and the specific censorship of the university.
